Sambal Goreng Hati

 

This is a delicious chicken liver dish that can be a part of the Rijsttafel or as a separate dish can be served with boiled or fried rice.

 

Ingredients:

2 pound chicken liver

1 large green bell pepper

1 large onion

1 tsp minced garlic

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

2 vegetable or chicken stock cubes

1 tsp Laos

1 tsp temoer koentji

5 petit beans

2 tsp keremi powder

1/2 tsp Sambal Oelek

1 tbsp. Vinegar

1/2 tsp sugar

1/4 cup coconut milk

1/2 cup water

Preparation:

Finely dice the onion petit beans and bell pepper.

Put some vegetable oil in a heavy pan and soften the onions.

Add the stock cubes and the Sambal oelek.

When the onions are soft ad the bell pepper, garlic, pepper, laos, keremi, temoer koentje and petit beans.

Let this simmer for 5 minutes and add chicken liver, coconut milk and water and simmer for 20 minutes.

Season it with salt.
